WWII period

Vasyl'kiv airfield was built before the WWII. It was a home for 43rd and 2nd Fighter Regiments (36 AD Division).
43rd Regiment had 54 I-16 and I-153 (2 grounded) fighters by June 22, 1941 while 2nd Regiment had 57 I-16 and I-153 (11 grounded).

Both regiments started training flights on LaGG-3 in early 1941. The airfield served as a training center for pilots of other units.
Training was not complete till the beginning of the war so that I-16 and I-153 stayed airfield's only fighter types till the end of 1941.

Fighters of 36 AD Division shot down 82 German aircraft by August 20, 1941.

Regiments of 36 AD Division left Vasyl'kiv in September 1941.

Теоретически можно пробить через МО. Им-то до задницы наше хобби, но иногда прокатывает. Завтра попробую запрос отправить.

Tried to open a new topic on your site, but I didn't figure out what the fields meant. I am sorry but in the Netherlands they teach us how to speak: English, French, Spanish, German and Dutch ofcourse, but we are not taught how to speak or write in cyrilic.

I was trying to ask if someone knew the post war history of Vasilkov Air Base. I was wondering what typs of jet's/recon or bombers were actually at Vasilkov. Also curious to find out a little more about the Ukrainian Air Force history since they inherited a lot of aircraft from the Soviets during their independance.

In return I am able to provude pictures both hard copies or digital images of about any type of aircraft you want. I can help with topics on NATO or US air forces both pre and post cold war.

I attached two pictures which again might be usefull for your site. Please you determine if the quality is sufficient for appearance.

Thank you so much for your assistance so far. If i can help you in any way pleae let me know.

Kind regards,

Patrick

The main problem of the search is that there was also Wasilkow (the same spelling in German as in Russian/Ukraininan) airfield in Poland during the WWII...
